Resources
Over the years as I have worked in website development, I have found a number of web tools I continue to use over and over. Here are a few I would like to share:Typography
- Typetester
- A web typography tool to see websafe fonts and how they look in the browser at different sizes
- Font Browser
- A flash utility to browse through all the fonts on your computer. You can enter the words you would like to see and set the size of the font
- sIFR
- An unobrusive, accessible flash text replacement method used to present custom fonts in a website.
Design
- Color Schemer
- Need help coming up with a good color scheme? Use this site.
- Designers Toolbox
- A collection of online tools and print specifications. Great site.
Flash
- Claus Wahlers' DENG
- Renders XHTML and CSS in flash. Amazing tool. Works great alongside a content management system.
- Unobtrusive Flash Objects
- An efficient way to provide alternate content, check flash version, and keep valid code while embedding flash.
CSS
- CSS Tweak
- Optimize your CSS through CSS Tweak. It converts to shorthand, remove comments, and optimize whitespace.
Development
- E-TextEditor
- This editor has redefined coding for me. The integration of Textmate snippets and bundles has been great. There are tons of other features that are great as well such as column editing, multi-selections, amongst many other common features.
